Patient survey - dental out-of-hours services

Closed 9 May 2018

Opened 14 Feb 2018

Overview

NHS England is responsible for commissioning (buying and managing) all dental services across England, including out-of-hours services (OOH).

Dental OOH services provide treatment for urgent dental problems that occur outside normal NHS dental practice working hours, including weekends and bank holidays. The services are particularly important to manage severe dental and facial pain, potentially preventing dental conditions from becoming life threatening.

NHS England Midlands and East (East) is now in the process of re-procuring dental out-of-hours services across Norfolk, Great Yarmouth & Waveney, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. This is because the existing contracts vary across this area. NHS England believes a re-procurement will improve dental OOH services in the area, ensuring patients across the region can access high quality services.

The views of patients and the public are valuable to ensure that NHS England commissions (buys and manages) services that meet people’s needs and reduce health inequalities. All feedback shared with NHS England will be reviewed and used to inform the services that are commissioned.

Residents of Norfolk, Great Yarmouth & Waveney, Cambridgeshire and Peterborough can share their views and contribute towards the procurement of dental out-of-hours services by completing this online survey.
