Overview

Application form: NHS England’s Local Specialised Commissioning Oversight Groups (SCOGs), in the North West of England, and Yorkshire and Humber areas.  There are three roles in each area.

NHS England

NHS England is committed to ensuring that public and patient voices are at the centre of shaping our healthcare services. Every level of our commissioning system needs to be informed by insightful methods of listening to those who use and care about our services to inform service development.

There are a range of opportunities for the public, patients, carers and patient representative organisations to get involved in shaping the work of NHS England.  Please see below for our current opportunities.

Local Specialised Commissioning Oversight Groups (SCOGs):

NHS England’s Specialised Commissioning Group is currently seeking to recruit to six PPV partner roles in our Local Specialised Commissioning Oversight Groups (SCOGs), in the North West of England and Yorkshire and Humber areas.  There are three roles in each area.

The Specialised Commissioning Oversight Group (SCOG) is a group established to discuss matters relating to the commissioning of Specialised Services. Its overall aim is to give local Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) greater involvement in the commissioning of Specialised Services to facilitate better alignment around the needs of local populations.

The role of the PPV Partner will be to:

  • Assist the SCOG in understanding the diverse perspectives of patients, carers and the public relevant to the work of the group and provide a consumer viewpoint
  • Provide ‘critical friend’ challenge into the group rather than represent a particular condition or interest.
  • Provide strategic assurance that the views of patients and the public have been sought and considered in the work of the SCOG and its constituent member organisations.

If you are interested in working with NHS England as a PPV partner, to ensure that the patient and carer perspective is at the heart of commissioning, you can find further information on these roles in the application pack.

You can apply for these roles by clicking on the application form button at the bottom of this page.

The closing date for all applications is 12 midnight on 1 February 2016.

We would expect applicants to live in the North West or Yorkshire and Humber areas, have previous experience of giving a public, patient or carer perspective on health services and a strong commitment to maintaining a patient focus in the commissioning of health services. There is an honorarium of £150 per day for these roles (for those people not representing or supported by an organisation).
