Clinical commissioning policy proposition on proton beam therapy for breast cancer

Overview

NHS England has launched a 30 day consultation on a clinical policy for the use of proton beam therapy for breast cancer, which proposes that this is not routinely commissioned at this time.

A final decision will made by NHS England and NHS Improvement following a recommendation from the Clinical Priorities Advisory Group This is an area which is under development for clinical trials, and therefore this decision can be reconsidered when further clinical evidence becomes available.
