Interim Clinical Commissioning Policy: Sapropterin for phenylketonuria (all ages)

Closed 23 Apr 2020

Opened 24 Mar 2020

Overview

NHS England has launched a 30 day consultation on a draft interim policy proposition for Sapropterin for phenylketonuria (all ages), which we are proposing is further considered for routine commissioning.

The policy proposition has been developed with the support and input of lead clinicians and tested with a range of stakeholders including patients and carers. This approach has helped ensure that the views of key stakeholders have informed and influenced the development of the policy to date. Policy propositions for this treatment have been considered by NHS England previously, and since this was last under consideration a new independent evidence review and a full equalities and health inequalities impact have been developed, and these can be accessed below.

We now wish to test this further with wider stakeholders through public consultation. A decision about this policy will be made by NHS England following a recommendation from the Clinical Priorities Advisory Group (CPAG). Any decision will be interim depending on the final outcome of the NICE Technology Appraisal which will determine the final commissioning position.

The last day to respond to this consultation is 23 April 2020.
