Specialised Services - Policy and Specification Consultation
Overview
NHS England has today (30 January 2015) launched a three month public consultation on proposed changes to a number of new and existing service specifications and clinical commissioning policies for specialised services. There has already been extensive engagement on these national specifications and policies, as they have been developed with the support and input of lead clinicians and patient and public representatives. This approach has helped ensure that the views of key stakeholders have informed and influenced the development of the policies and specifications so far.
We now want to test them further with wider groups of stakeholders.
We are consulting on the following documents:
Area A – Internal Medicine (digestion, renal, hepatobiliary and circulatory systems)
- Clinical Commissioning Policy Treatment of Digital Ulceration in Systemic Sclerosis (for interim adoption whilst out for formal consultation)
- Service Specification Hep C Networks (1 month consultation)
- Commissioning Policy Dialysis Away From Base (The Clinical Reference Group has also produced a related FAQ paper which should also be taken into consideration in your consultation response)
Area B – Cancer and Blood (infection, cancer, immunity and haematology)
Area D – Trauma (traumatic injury, orthopaedics, head and neck, and rehabilitation)
Area E – Women & Children (Women and children’s health, congenital and inherited disease)
- Clinical Commissioning Policy Biological Therapies for Treatment of Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (for interim adoption whilst out for formal consultation)
- Clinical Commissioning Policy Management of Foetal Anaemia Secondary to Red Cell Alloimmunisation (for interim adoption whilst out for formal consultation)
- Service Specification Gynaecological Anomalies
- Service Specification Foetal Medicine
- Service Specification Recurrent Urinary Incontinence (The CRG would like to draw your attention to the lack of any mention of Sacral Nerve Modulation in the specification. This is because the policy for this procedure has not yet been agreed by NHS England. If the policy is agreed then the CRG would re-insert the treatment paragraph.
- Complex Gynaecology Services – Recurrent Prolapse including laparoscopic surgery
Who we are consulting with:
This consultation is open to anyone who may wish to respond. However, it is anticipated that the target audience will be those likely to be affected by these proposed changes.
What happens next
Following closure of the consultations, NHS England will consider all feedback received before final draft documents are submitted to the Specialised Commissioning Committee for approval.
Thank you for your feedback
