Diagnostic Imaging Data Set (DIDS) v2.0 State of Readiness Questionnaire

Overview

The Diagnostic Imaging Data Set (DIDS) v2.0 Information Standards Notice (ISN) was published in October 2025 to mandate the central submission of DIDS v2.0 data to NHS England.

The changes for this version, DIDS version 2.0 (v2.0), are intended to enable the data set to meet a number of new user requirements that have emerged relating to diagnostic imaging data since the time it was introduced, particularly relating to understanding and supporting services more effectively in order to improve outcomes of care.

Completion of this questionnaire forms part of the conformance criteria for the information standard, as outlined in the DIDS v2.0 Requirements Specification.

The timescales for implementation are repeated below:

System Providers

From April 2026 diagnostic imaging systems MUST be fully conformant with this standard.

Care Providers

From 1st April 2026 care providers of imaging services as defined in this Information Standard MUST be able to collect the information as defined in this specification for local use.

From 1st May 2026, care providers of NHS-funded imaging services MUST submit DIDS submissions in accordance with this standard.

Why your views matter

The questionnaire will be open for three weeks. Responses to the questionnaire will allow NHS England to assess progress in conforming to the DIDS v2.0 changes, provide early assessment of expected data quality/coverage and allow opportunity for NHS England to consider additional support offerings ahead of go-live.

Completion guidance

When completing this questionnaire, please note the following:

  • Answer all questions and provide further detail where applicable.
  • Submit only one response per organisation.
  • Responses must be submitted by Sunday 22 February 2026.
  • The questionnaire has been written for use with both service providers and IT system providers in mind. Therefore, please consider the questions within the context of your specific role.

There is a 'Save and come back later' option within the questionnaire. This enables you to stop part way through, save what you've completed and come back to where you left it at a later time. You must ensure that you have entered your e-mail address correctly, as you will be sent a link to the e-mail address that you give, which will take you back to your partially completed questionnaire.
