Clinical fellowship expression of interest for NHS trusts

Overview

Expression of interest for GIRFT's Clinical Fellowship programme

Thank you for your interest in employing a GIRFT Clinical Fellow at your NHS trust or system for the 2026/27 cohort. This expression of interest will close on 12 December 2025 at midnight.

Fellowships ideally start in August/September each year, aligning with the start of new rotations for resident doctors, and run for 12 months. GIRFT will fund up to 50% of a fellow’s salary for the time they spend on their fellowship (around 40–60% FTE).  The remaining time will be spent working clinically for the trust. Fellows will be employed through an NHS trust and receive an honorary contract with NHS England for their GIRFT work.

What happens next

Thank you for submitting an expression of interest to employ a GIRFT Clinical Fellow at your NHS trust or system in 2026/27. We will collect expressions of interest until 12 December 2025 (midnight) and will go through a selection process with the responsible GIRFT team. We aim to let you know about the outcome of your proposal in late December 2025/January 2026.
