Adult Diabetes GIRFT Survey 2024

Closes 31 Dec 2024

Opened 1 Jul 2024

Overview

Dear Colleagues,

GIRFT’s major objective is to improve patient care and service efficiency by reducing unwarranted variation in how services are delivered.

Staffing levels and structures of care are significant factors contributing to variation in inpatient diabetes care. In our 2020 GIRFT national diabetes report, we made a number of recommendations regarding inpatient diabetes services for which there was Transformation Funding from NHSE to appoint diabetes inpatient specialist nurses and podiatrists where needed.

This nationwide GIRFT Questionnaire is aimed at providing an update on current service provision across England. It will be used by the GIRFT diabetes team to help understand which of the GIRFT recommendations have been adopted and identify where gaps still exist and whether transformation posts have been made substantive.

To facilitate participation, the questionnaire is brief and should take about 30 minutes and certainly no longer than one hour to complete. We suggest that this be done as a team exercise. If you want to check something before completing the questionnaire use the save and return button at the bottom of the sections.  You will be sent an email to a return link; check your junk mail if you have not received it. To ensure consistency we are asking all sites to complete the GIRFT questionnaire on a day of their choosing during Insulin Safety Week which runs from July 1-7th 2024.

We intend to make the results available shortly after the completion date, allowing you to compare yours with the national results, however, your data will not be shared with others.

We are looking forward to your participation in this survey which will be important in GIRFT continuing to support inpatient diabetes care.
