GIRFT ENT - short notice or on the day cancellation of (adeno)tonsillectomy procedures due to current/recent history of tonsillitis or respiratory infection

Overview

We’ve noticed variation in decisions to proceed with or cancel tonsillectomy surgery for patients with a current or recent history of tonsillitis or respiratory infection. We’d like to better understand the reasons and evidence behind this and explore whether different approaches are associated with outcomes such as on-the-day cancellations, length of stay, delayed discharge, and readmissions.

To aid this work , we have developed a short questionnaire for adult and paediatric services, which should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. Please complete by close of play on Friday 30th January. Thank you in advance for your support.
