Chair of the Children and Young People’s Transformation Programme Board - Expression of interest

Overview

The Children and Young People’s Transformation Programme are inviting expressions of interest in this role by 13 January 2023.

Children and Young People (CYP) represent a third of our country and their health and wellbeing will determine our future.

The NHS Long Term Plan (LTP) set out a vision for the future of the NHS and new action to improve the health and wellbeing of CYP. To deliver the vision, a Children and Young People Transformation Programme was established to oversee the delivery of LTP commitments in relation to CYP. The work of the programme is overseen by a Children and Young People Transformation Programme Board which brings together key partners across health, care and education.

We are now looking to appoint a new Chair of the CYP Transformation Programme Board. As Chair, you will provide advice, scrutiny and challenge to drive the delivery of the CYP transformation programme and the wider ambitions for CYP in NHS England.

The Chair will work alongside the SRO to represent the programme at the most senior levels of the NHS. You will be a champion for improving services and outcomes for children and young people, advocating on their behalf across health, education, social care and with cross-government departments.

The board also includes seven Youth Board Members who play a vital role in ensuring children and young people are involved in national policy and decision making. As Chair, you will be responsible for liaising with the Youth Board Members and ensure their voices are heard.

This is a high-profile, strategic role and as such will require extensive senior-level experience of working in and influencing the CYP sector and wider government. We welcome candidates from health and wider sectors with the relevant skills and experience.

The Chair will be required to attend the bi-monthly board meeting. The role will require approximately 2 days per month and can be offered on a secondment basis with reimbursement made for the time commitment.
