Overview

Suzanne Rastrick, the Chief Allied Health Professions Office (CAHPO) for England is seeking to urgently establish a  CAHPO Black, Asian, Minority and Ethnic (BAME) Strategic Advisory Forum 

The forum will provide a specific focus on race equality from a BAME perspective to influence, support and advise on the implementation and delivery of strategies, policies and practice that positively impact on BAME AHPs and the communities they service.

The forum will drive the development of strategy and actions that will improve the diversity of the AHP workforce and the expereince of BAME AHPs working in the NHS

Applications are welcomed from students, support workers and registered AHPs working in the health and care sector, independent sector and higher education.

Applicants are expected to be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the issues relating to the diversity of the AHP workforce.

Expected duties and responsibilities

  1. To work in an open, transparent, accountable and inclusive way at all times;
  2. To influence and work towards the best outcomes for BAME communities, and AHP students and staff ensuring representation in all discussions, with a focus on race equality and recommendations to reduce adverse variation;
  3. To raise relevant issues across the AHP landscape within health and social care, education and the independent sectors;
  4. To be actively engaged in providing feedback to draft proposals, new initiatives, research or reports in a timely way;
  5. To enable and support the development of future BAME AHP leaders;
  6. To monitor and review the work plan of the strategic advisory forum and make recommendations as appropriate;
  7. To be the main point of contact for stakeholders, regional networks in relation to workforce development, diversity and inclusion and to provide updates to the AHP community through a range of mechanisms;

Meetings will be held bi-monthly, virtually via Microsoft Teams. Please note that this is a voluntary position and there will therefore be no financial reimbursements for member's time.
