This is a call for best practice to support the upskilling care home staff project of the Independent Care Sector Programme.

What is the call for?: Examples of joint working between care homes (both nursing and residential), homecare providers, housing organisations and NHS organisations to upskill care home staff.

Types of activities we are looking for: provision of e-learning/formal training; hybrid working models; buddying and examples of training staff to deliver health procedures and prevent unnecessary hospital admissions. Procedures could include: medicines administration; using syringe drivers; end of life care.

How will examples provided be used? NHS England and partners are developing guidance on how NHS organisations can support care sector staff to take on new skills, as part of the suite of Quick Guides available at www.nhs.uk/quickguides. Please note, we will not publish any material from you without your explicit permission in advance
