NHS Net Zero - Call for evidence

Closed 22 Mar 2020

Opened 25 Jan 2020

Overview

We want to hear your ideas on how the NHS can continue to reduce its carbon emissions and become greener. Submissions are welcome from anyone with an interest in healthcare or sustainability, whether you are a member of NHS staff, a patient, carer, or an expert in a related field.

Reaching Net Zero involves going beyond simply decarbonising buildings, travel, and the products we rely on, to reimagine aspects of how we deliver care, including providing greater access to telemedicine and digitalisation. It could enable more patients to make virtual appointments helping to reduce travel, while ensuring a better continuity of care for many patients.

Evidence may include data, information, case studies, ideas and research, from within or outside a healthcare setting, nationally or internationally, that can be applied to the NHS. All ideas, case studies, emerging research, disruptive innovations, technologies, transformative programmes and more are welcomed and encouraged. Examples of case studies and innovations already underway in the NHS can be found here on our website

Providing your response(s)

You can submit evidence into the following categories:

A. Case studies

B. Ideas

C. Research

D. Something else

You can submit as many responses as you like for each of the categories. You do not have to submit evidence for every category.

We encourage responses that are a maximum of 500 words per question, and you may submit supporting links and evidence. We may follow-up with you for more information so please keep responses brief.

If you require further information, please contact greener.nhs@nhs.netwith the subject line “Call for evidence”.

The deadline for responses is Sunday 22 March 2020.

How your information will be used

We have established an Expert Panel, which brings together global leaders and experts in the fields of environmental sustainability and healthcare, to advise the NHS on becoming Net Zero.  Evidence submitted will be shared with the Group in order to inform their discussions, analysis and emerging recommendations to the NHS.

We may contact you for further information or follow-up, so please provide up-to-date contact details. Information submitted will be managed in accordance with our privacy policy.
