Lung Cancer Screening Data Set (LCSDS) V1.0 State of Readiness Questionnaire

Overview

The Lung Cancer Screening Data Set (LCSDS) v1.0, has been developed to support the national lung cancer screening programme, and will eventually replace the existing aggregate collection.

To date, we have held multiple Expert Reference Groups (ERGs), webinars and surveys, including a published online public consultation questionnaire. All of which have been invaluable to us in aiding to implement the design and implementation of the data set.

Information can be found on the NHS England LCSDS webpages: Lung Cancer Screening Data Set (LCSDS) - NHS England Digital

Prior to implementation of the data set in July 2026, we are now looking for feedback on your 'readiness' to make submissions.

These are the timescales for implementation:

Lung Cancer Screening Providers

From 1 July 2026, lung cancer screening providers SHOULD be able to collect the information as defined in the Technical Output Specification for local use.

From 1 August 2026, lung cancer screening providers SHOULD start making submissions.

By 1 April 2027, lung cancer screening providers MUST be fully conformant with LCSDS v1.0, including the capture and return of any mandatory or required data items.

Full conformance date will be 1 April 2027.

Why your views matter

The questionnaire will be open for one month.

Responses to the questionnaire will allow NHS England to assess progress in conforming to the LCSDS v1.0, and will provide an early assessment of expected data quality/coverage and allow opportunity for NHS England to consider additional support offerings ahead of go-live.

Completion guidance

When completing this questionnaire, please note the following:

  • Answer all questions and provide further detail where applicable
  • Some questions are 'required' which means a response is needed to be able to move onto the next page. If an answer is not applicable to you, please mark as 'N/A' so that you can move onto the next page
  • Submit only one response per organisation or site
  • Responses should be submitted by Monday 15 June 2026
  • The questionnaire has been written for use with both service providers and IT system suppliers in mind. Therefore, please consider the questions within the context of your specific role

There is a 'Save and come back later' option within the questionnaire. This enables you to stop part way through, save what you've completed and come back to where you left it at a later time. You must ensure that you have entered your e-mail address correctly, as you will be sent a link to the e-mail address that you give, which will take you back to your partially completed questionnaire.

Closes 15 Jun 2026
